Darcy's Postcard challenge, week 3 Brazil

This week I got out the paints (inks) and pencil crayons and pitt pens - it was fun!

While I have you here oh wise people. I like my inks I like the intensity they give. I want to get some acrylics to play with (not the tubey you can get me form hobbycraft kind). the look at the intensity of colour kind - any recommendations?

fabulous card, and what do they need to make work? oooohhhh

paint wise?

the more you pay the purer the pigment the more intense the colour, the longer it lasts (hundred years) , tubes that say heavy body are more opaque ( cover everything)

acrylics can be thinned to glaze level with a medium - gloss or matte
they can be mixed with a substance that causes them to dry more slowly ( beginers can get frustrated at the pace you have to paitn with acrylics as they dry in seconds)

you can mix them with water but you will lose intensity of colour (no loss of intensity if you use a medium)

finished and sealed with the correct varnish the colour will remain as intense for decades.

Cheaper acrylics lack pigment and fade over time but are brillitant to use for practice pieces.

My best tubes of my best paints last for years in their tubes so long as you squeeze from the bottom so no air gets trapped inside aand you Always put the screw top on the moment you have squeezed out your paitn onto your pallette.

you can mix Any Colour from a base set which are put together for you in any good art web site/shop. They want return custom so if you spend they will help, and if you keep going back they give discount. Ken Bromleys are fab.

Lovely eye! Visually stunning! Re acrylic paints I bought some from Lidl in large tubes (sets of 4 or 5) and they are great - lots of colour and cheap. I also have Eco Green acrylics (£2.50 each) and they are excellent too and buff up to shine. Hope this is useful.

Fabulous eye, and so intriguing with all those dates.

I have a mixture of paints, but mostly use System 3 by Daler Rowney. They are not the cheapest but not the most expensive either, they are good value for money. However I have heard good things about Dyans paints from Art from the Heart. I haven't tried them, but the colours look lovely.

oh that is very eye catching ( sorry ! ) No help on paints I'm afraid.
Thanks for your comment. I had years of broken nights with my two when they were toddlers ( great sleepers as babies though ) so I know how exhausting it is.
Now they sleep ( teenagers !!!)

I love the notes above the card in the notebook. It gives a whole other dimension to your story.

I like Golden acrylics, but I'm not expert by any means.

Gorgeous card. Love it.

As for paints, listen to Donna she knows her stuff. I have to agree with her Ken Bromley comment, she put me on to them and they are fabulous, lots of sales. They have their own website AND I recently found out they sell through Amazon too if you have vouchers ;)

Ooooh another eye I just love what I am seeing and I am hooked on the story. I use mostly Golden Acrylics but also dabble in system 3 neon colours. How they stand up over time I have no clue but they look gorgeous now.
